EPRTNT Assistance Program

This program is currently closed. It will reopen in spring 2024.

*Other calls for projects will follow until the end of 2024.

The Regional Partnership and Digital Transformation Agreement in Tourism (EPRTNT - abbreviation of the french name) aims to support and stimulate the development, renewal and structuring of the tourism offer in Montreal tourist region.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism in Quebec, the program contributes to renewing and enhancing the tourism offer in the region according to the Framework of Intervention 2021-2025: Act Today. Transform tomorrow., from the Action Plan for Responsible and Sustainable Tourism 2020-2025 and Montreal's regional tourism priorities.

The projects must be structuring and contribute to renewing and improving the region's tourism offer. They must help achieve the following objectives:

1.Stimulate the economy of the regions by :

  • The development of an attractive and distinctive tourism offer;
  • The promotion of an innovative tourism offer;
  • The development of new niches for tourism businesses.

2.Promote the development of a responsible and sustainable tourism offer through: The adoption of practices in terms of environmental protection

  • The adoption of social responsibility practices by tourism enterprises;
  • The integration of innovative solutions that respect the environment;

 

The types of eligible partners are as follows : 

  • For-profit organizations;
  • Not-for-profit organizations (NFPO);
  • Cooperatives;
  • Municipal entities;
  • First nations and inuit communities recognized by the National Assembly as well as Indigenous tourism organizations and businesses;
  • Any grouping of these partners.

A file will be considered eligible when all documents are submitted at the time of application. If any documents are missing, the file will receive a negative recommendation.

Eligibility in itself does not guarantee funding, nor does it oblige Tourisme Montréal and Tourisme Québec to provide financial assistance through the EPRNT. Eligible organizations must have fulfilled, if applicable, their commitments to Tourisme Montréal and Tourisme Québec in the awarding of a previous grant.

Initiatives program

THIS PROGRAM IS NOW CLOSED FOR ALL PROJECTS COMPLETED IN 2024. 

Please note that applications for financial assistance for 2024 will be accepted until the program budget is sold out.

The objective of the program is to finance projects for tourist attractions, activities or facilities that have a significant outreach and visibility potential for Montreal. Their realization will contribute to the attractiveness of the destination and the enhancement of the visitor experience. Multiplier effects and the impact on brand awareness and overnight stays in commercial accommodation will be considered when analyzing projects.

The project's tourism benefits must be clearly demonstrated, and the project's target clientele must be clearly identified in terms of tourism.

 

You will find below Tourisme Montréal's sectors of interest for this call for projects:

  • Projects related to a winter offer/initiative in the extended Downtown area (Papineau to Atwater/Sherbrooke to de la Commune) and the Parc Jean-drapeau and Mont-Royal sectors;
  • 4-season tourism projects;

Tourisme Montréal is looking for tourism projects in the Quartier Latin, Village and Religious Tourism sectors, among others.

 

Three categories of projects are eligible:

 

Section 1: Strategic destination development projects

Projects must be highly creative and large-scale. Projects must demonstrate significant benefits. 

Section 2: Harmonious destination projects

Harmonious destination projects must support tourism businesses' sustainable development initiatives (Environmental, Economic or Social benefits).

Section 3: Hotel projects

Structuring projects for the hotel industry must be creative and generate added value for their establishment. They must enhance the hotel product and distinguish it internationally, in particular through its visual or experiential added value. Priority will be given to illumination projets or exterior decoration of the establishments's facade.

Projects submitted must contribute to the renewal of the product in Montreal, while respecting the development of a harmonious destination and offer to maintain its attractiveness.  Examples of eligible projects include themed projects for the winter season and the holiday season, illumination projects, interior or exterior murals, greening, etc.

 

Submitting applications

The FIP is now a non-stop program. Promoters can therefore submit their applications at any time during the year.

For projects carried out in 2024, promoters can submit their project between August 22, 2023 and March 1st, 2024 at 11:59 pm.

A file will be considered eligible when all complete documents are submitted at the time of application. If any documents are missing, the file will be carried over to the next analysis period.

Projects will be analyzed by a selection committee, based on criteria that assess the relevance, feasibility and impact of the project, to ensure that it meets the objectives of this program. 

Eligibility in itself does not guarantee funding, nor does it oblige Tourisme Montréal to grant financial assistance through the FIP. Eligible organizations must have fulfilled any commitments they may have made to Tourisme Montréal when a previous grant was awarded.

Assistance program for Events, Festivals and Museum exhibitions

This program is currently closed for 2024 events. It will open at the end of summer 2024 for events taking place from January 1 to June 30, 2025.

 

DEFINITION

For Tourisme Montréal, a festival, museum exhibition or event with tourism potential is an event that, through its content, theme, duration and reputation, increases the number of visitors, is a trigger for a trip to Montréal and strengthens the destination's positioning. For their part, events with tourism potential essentially allow for the dissemination abroad of an avant-garde and open image linked to the personality of Montréal. 

ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS

Organizations eligible for financial assistance are

  • Quebec companies that are legally constituted, whether for profit or not;
  • Quebec public enterprises, such as municipal corporations;
  • Any combination of the above organizations.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The festival, museum exhibit or tourism event must 

  • meet the definition of "eligible festivals, museum exhibitions and tourism events 
  • be produced and held in Montreal; 
  • have a program that targets a pan-Quebec, national or international tourist clientele;
  • have a program that lasts between 3 and 60 days and is accessible to a leisure or business tourism clientele (contact us if your event/festival is less than 3 days). There is also no minimum duration exhibitions.;
  • submit an application before the submission deadlines (see program management procedures);
  • be the sole recipient of surpluses, grants and other external contributions;
  • demonstrate an environmentally responsible approach;
  • ensure that the financial request does not exceed 10% of the applicant's total annual expenses.
  • The following are not eligible for financial assistance: a trade show, a tourist exchange, a convention or a show.

The main objective of the program is to increase tourism revenues in Montréal, while respecting various orientations, particularly in terms of sustainable development.

To this end, it aims to :

  • supporting festivals, museum exhibitions and tourism events that position Montréal as a destination on the Quebec, national and international scenes
  • strengthen Montréal's appeal by focusing on a festival, a museum exhibition or a tourist event likely to prolong the stay of visitors;
  • encourage new talent and innovation to ensure the sustainability of the event industry and maintain Montréal's position and competitive advantages in the field.
